The company was one of the first to introduce the combination of a quality &#8220;Murphy bed&#8221; frame with the low cost of melamine cabinetry. In 1993, the conversion to a franchise company took place, using the name Murphy Bed Centers of America. Robert H. Wood purchased the Fort Myers, Florida franchise territory and eventually took over the Murphy Bed Centers of America in 1995.</p>
<p>There are currently 42 retail stores consisting of 37 franchised stores and five company-owned stores. The chain has presence in 14 states across the country including: California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico and Virginia.  New openings in the marketplace continue to arise even among difficult economic conditions, presenting numerous opportunities for rapid growth and expansion. The company has managed to thrive and flourish, sustaining its profitability and carrying on its tradition of renown customer service and a flair for organization.</p>
